Cumberland Brook

The Flow of the Seasons

Cumberland Brook is formed by a number of small streams and springs that flow down from Danethorn Hollow. The brook travels due west and then joins Clough Brook to feed the River Dane. A rough track follows the stream and forms a popular link for walkers between the summit of Shutlingsloe and the Cat & Fiddle pub on the A537. In this small area you can experience the wild remoteness of open moorland and the quiet picturesque of shaded woodland. Those using the track often welcome the break from wind blown rain, as they drop to the shelter provided by trees that grow along the lower stretches of the brook. These photographs are part of a larger collection that were produced over a period of 18 months. They draw the viewers attention to the details in the landscape and how these are effected by the weather and changes in the seasons.
